Sweet memories8/3/2023 ![]() ![]() Hoping to God no one was watching I waited for the scene to play out but the image was frozen. After a few lines of REALLY bad Engrish the girls lips pop up on the touch screen. I was on my lunch break at work when I finished the dating sim "route". If it was my review I would have only given it a 4/10 simply because I enjoyed trying to achieve odd results in blackjack that you normally do not attempt such as win a hand with trip aces, push three times in a row, or win a hand with 6 cards.įunny little story with the game (contains spoilers): The blackjack is broken as it does not follow standard casino rules and is of no help to anyone who enjoys gambling on blackjack. I would not suggest it to anyone who is interested in dating sims nor anyone who's looking for a serious blackjack game. Very weird indeed, especially since I'm 34 and married.Īlso, your review is not wrong. Not because I'm being defensive about the product, that would imply emotional investment in the game and that would be weird. I only responded because for some reason I felt compelled to add in more details about the game. They are quite well thought out and often devious and my main pleasure that I've derived from the It's fine, I didn't take it to heart. This makes returning to the game much more pleasurable even after you've finished the story arc which takes about 2,000 hands. Where the game shines though is that there are 26 blackjack achievements to unlock, some of which a very difficult. I would give that side of the game a 4 out of 10. The route itself is quite simple and heavy on "Engrish". There are other girls you can play at certain times of the day such as the rest of the club during normal school hours or the main girl's sister during the evening. So for the card game part of it I would give it a 5 out of 10.Īs for the "dating sim" part of it there is only one route to follow. You can not split, you can push when the dealer gets blackjack by just getting 21, and the dealer often sticks lower than 17. It's an okay-ish blackjack game though there are three quirks in that part. I've logged 13.25 hours and 3,446 hands (I like blackjack). It takes about 4.5 hrs to play 1,000 hands, not 15-20 hours. Even outside of that somewhat weird setup, Sweet Memories - Blackjack is just a poorly designed game that offers little reward for the massive amounts of time required to unlock anything. ![]() If you have any urge to spend money on a crappy game of blackjack where you, for some reason, play it inside a teenage girl’s bedroom, then you’re sort of weird and might want to look into this game. There is an achievement system that encourages some amount of play, but the rewards are just pretty pictures of the anime-style high school girls. The game is also notable for being played book-style, while not having any 3D effect. There are two different modes of play, with Normal mode offering the story progressions, and Score mode being more of a high score mode separate from the main game. Granted, blackjack isn’t a long game, but 1,000 rounds probably equates to somewhere around 15-20 hours of play. ![]() In order to progress the story in any meaningful way (and unlock new characters to play against), you need to play potentially a thousand rounds of blackjack. Sweet Memories – Blackjack is nothing more than a blackjack game. Appropriately, the setup for this game is that you’re a new student catching up with an old friend over games of blackjack. In both, you perform a mundane, repetitive task as a ridiculous and amusing story goes on around you. The game, as far as I could tell, was like Let’s Catch, a surprisingly excellent 2009 WiiWare title. When I first heard about Sweet Memories - Blackjack, I might have laughed out loud. ![]()
